Florida Steel Guitar Club

Report for August 11, 2010 Meeting/Jam at Catfish Johnny’s Restaurant, Lake Panasoffkee, FL.

Next meeting/jam will be Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at 5:30 PM

1.   A smaller number of steeler’s again this month with several regulars not able to attend.  James Marlowe was there but decided to sit out due to some equipment problems.

2.   The September meeting/jam will be September 8.  This is the Wednesday after the ISGC in St Louis but it should not present a hardship since the ISGC, this year, ends Saturday night instead of Sunday.

3.  September starts our 9th year!  We are considering a “show” using club member Steeler’s possibly in February, when we can get a large audience attendance as a “club celebration”.  This is all preliminary and tentative but keep this in mind.  Many of the regular’s at the Tuesday Catfish Johnny Jams have asked if we were ever going to have a show again.  We can’t afford any “name” talent but the talent we have in the club will more than suffice.  Hopefully I can work it out with Catfish Johnny (the date for the show) by the September or October at latest club jam.  We can charge a small admission fee (we can’t charge much) and half to the club and half to Catfish Johnny.

4.  Another reminder to keep your e-mail address up to date.  E-mail is the only way of notifying or contacting most club members.   If you have an e-mail change, send it to me ASAP.   fsgc@tampabay.rr.com

5.  A copy of this report, as usual, will be posted on the club web site and you can access it at www.floridasteelguitarclub.com

6.  Thanks to Don Sulesky for documenting the participants and keeping the jam going.   Thanks also to the great backup band that we can’t do without.  Tom Murphy was out due to surgery and Clyde took his place on rhythm guitar.  Karl Congdon was also gone due to another commitment but fortunately George Basley was there on drums.
